Kayak identification help needed

I need help identifying these two kayaks. The seller is not sure of the brand or year… They are 17 feet.

Hull ID should be near/on the stern, sometimes a sticker in the cockpit.

Yes I agree. Look in the cockpit for a sticker of markings of some kind.

Be careful here. Unless the owner has died, you would think someone who is into paddling enough to own two sleek seakayaks would at least know what brand they are.
I’ve encountered a few people selling stolen boats, and lack of knowledge of what they have is a huge tip off.

If they are stolen the current owner cares enough to put in a webbing suspension system to store them.

I’ve known plenty of people who have bought expensive stuff simply because it was ‘expensive’ and therefore ‘better’ with no idea what they were getting.

Can also be an estate sale. If I got hit by a bus tomorrow, my estate heirs would be posting a lot of boats they know nothing about for sale.

When I see a boat for sale I usually ask the seller to text me a shot of the serial number and any tags inside the hull.

That said, those appear to be KajakSport hatch covers with that sunray design molded in, which are typically replacements for NDK and Valley boats. I would have guessed these were Eddyline but for that.

The lack of ANY obvious brand or model names suggests these might possibly be restoration jobs with new accessories and gel coat

The rudder and hatch covers look like Wilderness Systems. The rudder is fairly distinctive. It looks like the owner removed all of the brand decals. Wilderness Systems had a decal on the rudder as well as several on the boat. 3M and others make a spray-on decal remover that is scary how quickly and well it works.

The recessed clips for the decklines and bungees may be another clue. The hatch covers may be replacements. The rubber hatch covers made by Valley are notorious for degrading with UV exposure.

Although my boat for some reason is missing a serial number, agree that there should be one somewhere. It’s usually on one side of the stern. Look like nice boats and well cared for.

Several was sold in Ottawa, Canada around 20 years ago.
Pretty pretty sure they are Tahe model Mari 2 kayaks.

Re serial numbers: a couple of the vintage kayaks I have adopted over the years had the serial numbers on stickers on the outside or inside of the hull. Tough stickers, but stickers nonetheless, and on one of them, it was starting to peel off until I superglued it back down. The 2013 Northwest Discover I bought 2 summers ago has the s/n hand written on a manufacturer’s stick on label inside the cockpit. And a 2002 Pakboat (that I just had to check for the s/n to renew it’s annual state launch permit) has it hand carved into the rubberized fabric of the hull along the stern gunwales, looks to be by using a heat pen or woodburning tool.

Looks like the yellow Wildy used in the 90s. Might be misremembering, but I think their old MIC tag (first three of the Hull ID number) was WKY. Have the seller get you that, and it’ll narrow things down.
