In 2002 I built two of them in my living room. I didn't plan to build the second one but was lost for something to do after the first one was finished and I already had this mess so....
I still have one of them and it's a keeper no matter what other boats I have. Just remember that sanding is what turns wood into furniture, learn to love sanding.

Great choice I think building two of the same for your first builds will be much less confusing than keeping track of two different sets of directions. And I think you will both find the AT 14 a great boat.
Interestingly, since the office, half of which I converted to a boat-building shop, is a counseling office, I have a number of moaning chairs - some quite comfortable! I do have a special chair set aside for that purpose, and expect to need it from time to time. Also, plenty of kleenex, a punching pillow and a rubber hose for beating the floor!
