Hi - I recently bought a second hand 17’ fiberglass ocean sit-in kayak with a rudder that is about 10 years old but it has no identifying information other than an alphaneumeric serial number that starts with NEC etched on the port side of the stern. I need to pick up some accessories for this boat including a new seat and hatch covers etc. Would anyone know what kind of boat this may be based on the serial number or how I might go about finding out what kind of boat this is? I have already tried Necky and Current Designs and it’s not one of theirs. Thanks in advance.
HIN (Hull Identification Number)
The serial number on the stern should conform to a standard: http://boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm
This would provide you with an amount of the infor you may need.

Thanks all - that did it…although apparently they don’t manufacture this boat any more and have no history on it so it looks like I have to modify the parts I need…
