Very true especially around here
Sometimes the cars are burned before the make it to the water. After all for many years Youngstown Ohio has been known as “Murder-town USA” and is very famous for it’s racketeering. But the preferred “Drop Off” point is McKelvey Lake. It’s so bad that the county dive team searches it several times a year.
Went
I ended up going.
Ive fished there a few times. You usually can see the rock for about 5-6’ then dark blue.
It was eerie IMHO.
I put in, was going along. You see the cliff, straight down…
I snuck up on a few fair sized fish. Catfish about 24", a few small mouth in the 12" range, then I seen it. Im not sure what it was, but it appeared to be in the 3’ area. It was probably 15’ down in the water and disappeared quickly.
All in all it was fun. The quarry was about glass smooth. The Advant-Edge cut thru it like a knife.
Big weight, Large hook . . . .
You could have had the ride of the lifetime if you could hook that guy. He’d probably show you around the entire quarry before you either got him in, he got you in, or your line broke.
;-D
Eagle Lake Quarry?
I live over by the quarry you paddled in. I know my dad has paddled it a few times. I prefer to paddle on the Portage and Sandusky Rivers.
Never paddled, but
swam in one a few times when I was a child with my siblings and cousins, and all of us without PFDs! However, we were all fair to strong swimmers. I loved that place, so cool, clear and serene, although I couldn’t tell you exactly where it was now… somewhere in south or southeastern Ohio. A little eerie, yes, but neat nonetheless.
What part of Lake Murray?
I paddle (not very much lately due to an accident) a couple miles upstream of Shull Island, across the lake from Billy Dreher Island.
Never in a quarry
but always in a quandry
where ya at?
No I was in White Star
I was thinking about that eagle lake as its HUGE!
Got a kayak? I need to find a paddle buddy around here, Im over in Elmore.
I’m from Lindsey …
My dad and I paddle racing canoes in the area. If you’re from Elmore, you should head over to Oak Harbor and paddle on the Portage. Once you get to Oak Harbor the water depth is good year round (no need to worry about low water levels). You are always welcome to join us when we paddle there.
Sounds good
I can do Oak Harbor sometime during the week.
Put in behind the bank I take it?
My Uncle has some 17’ aluminum canoe he just got. He might want to venture along also. But his main aim is to fish. I want to fish also, but exploring is a bit better
Oak Harbor
When we paddle in Oak Harbor we typically put in at the cemetary. When driving from Elmore direction you turn right into the cemetary just before you get into Oak Harbor. There is actually a put-in there (much better than by the Bank).
