Putting in on the Kentucky River soon and am trying to find some info on portages around locks/dams number 9 thru 4. Any help would be much appreicated.
You just go to the lock side and look
for a landing. It isn’t rocket science.
I went to Google Earth and looked at
all those locks from space. All of them appear to have landing and debarking options on the lock side. I can’t promise that some landings won’t be difficult. In the past, I have been to several of those locks, and have portaged the one downstream from the Jessamine Ferry. People do portage them fairly often, and that tends to create landings and trails.
Don’t ever bother with the opposite side of the locks. Usually the dam is crowded against a steep rock face, and will be very difficult to portage.
