Free first come first serve camping (about 55 camp sites) 17,000 acres of water to explore with over 200 islands. And pretty good fishing. Not many power boats and those there are fishing boats. Near Mercer.

That’s it!
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks

Sylvania
Like the BWCA but small. Located on the border with the Upper Peninsula of Mich. north of Conover Wi.

While in the area you could also paddle the upper Wisconsin River down to the dam at Eagle River. There are DNR campsites along the route and maps are available from DNR. Rohrs is a good outfitter in the area for shuttles.

As mentioned previously, Turtle/Flambeau flowage is great also. Trout Lake campground is another choice as a starting point - connects to many other lakes and the Manitowish River by portage trails and has DNR campsites accessible only by water.

Happy paddling! Gotta’ love the loon songs up there.
