My men are finishing the UP-RIVER paddle on the Columbia, and we are about to get on our horses again! We will ride OVER the mountains at the end of June, as per the L&C Journals…Capt. Lewis will explore the Marias, and I, like my 4th-Great Grandfather, will head for the Yellowstone…we put paddles in on 7/24…in the LIVINGSTON area. Native paddlers WANTED!!! ALL paddlers WELCOME!!! We’re paddling dugout canoes, but modern ones are O.K…100 CANOES to arrive in St. Louis 7/23!!! Wanna be part of HISTORY??? Find ME on the Trail…Captain “Shirtkill” Clark …We paddle for the PEOPLE!!! HAPPY BICENTENNIAL!!!

hoozat talkin’???
South Dakota should be August…CHECK THE JOURNALS!!! That’s our timeline…The lakes will pose a problem, as we can’t paddle 70 or 80 MILES A DAY on a LAKE!!! We WILL have to portage some to keep up on the original timeline…Once we hit the lower Mo, we float to St. Louis!!! Woo hoo!!! Get in touch with me later(July), and I’ll have a better idea of HOW we’re going to do it…We WILL see our Native friends along the way…I’m busy preparing to RIDE HORSES next week…

Capt. Clark

Upper Missouri Rivers

Missouri River
Capt Clark

What time will you arrive Kansas Ctiy. I’m hoping to get a few Kruger Canoe paddlers and Friends of Norm Miuller to join you. Thanks.

Wetsidedown

I’ll be there, Cap’n
We’ll be waiting at Washington and will finish with you. If you roughly follow the original camps, we’ll know when.

BTW, it’s 9/23 in St. Louis, not 7/23.

Good luck.

Roughly
They are following the same time-line as lewis and clark so if you have a journal look and see when they were in the KC area etc. Its probably a week before the 26th of SEPTEMBER give or take. I can find out later.

Talk to churchill the other day. They will be Paddling the Manto Chante 25 foot dugout which they built heading west last year to the Pacific and brought it up the columbia and it will go down the Yellowstone mid july for St. Louis

The group is looking to finish with 100 PADDLERS OF ALL KINDS TO HELP CLOSE THE 200th anniversary of the L&C Bicentennial. Churchill is the 4th great grandson of Captn William Clark so it will be an honor to arrive two hundred years to the date with the famed explorers grt. grandson. It going to be a big blow-out in st. louis with all the reenactors and hope ALL paddlers can come who live within a 500 mile radius.

I can keep you posted as things progress. The group is currently with the Nez Perce Indians in the Weippe Idaho area arranging horses to come over the divide to Montana.

A few questions
There is some possibility that I can paddle along for a short while in South Dakota but there are a few things I need to know. I assume that you have the dates reversed for the James River and Ponca camps. If not I will certainly need nine pounds of meat to paddle that distance upstream.

If you can let me know where you will be encamped at the James River I will do my best to make an appearance. I still need to make arrangements to employ a paddling partner or at least passage to return me to my primary source of conveyance.

I presume that Ponca State Park is to be your host on Saturday but do you have a specific camp in mind north of Sioux City? The particulars and even the very reality of my being able to join you are still in question but a few details will help me make arrangements.

Thanks
