“Quiet World Sports offers kayak and standup paddleboard rentals at Vandercook Lake County Park in Jackson county Michigan. Located on 5 lakes and the Grand River allows for wonderful adventures for family, friends or canine companions. Open weekends in May, 12-5pm, 7 days/ week Memorial Day to Labor Day 10-7pm (weather permitting). Paddleboards, and single or double kayaks are $15/4 hours Monday through Thursday, and $20/4 hours Friday through Sunday. Paddles, life jackets, and dry boxes are included. DNR launch sites around here have had loaners out for a couple of years now but they are the cheapo $5 ones.

I can highly recommend paddling the Halfmoon chain in Pinckney Rec Area. 20 miles if you circumnavigate to Hell and back, and some areas have no houses visible so its about as “up north” as you can get around here. Avoid summer weekends.

At all of the Sonoma County California parks with access to the Russian River there are free loaners provided by the county at stations manned by volunteers May to October. Great program. :wink:
