I can no longer car top my 16’ canoe. But I can still paddle and I want to be able to transport the canoe to launches that may not offer trailer-friendly parking (because who wants to launch amidst the large powerboats?)
So… I’m looking for a roadworthy lightweight trailer that will:
- Allow me to haul the canoe to the launch;
- Allow me to disconnect from my car and use the trailer as a dolly to get the canoe to the water;
- Allow me to haul the trailer back to the car and then tip it (maybe fold it?) so it will sit compactly behind my car in a regular parking space.
I should clarify – while getting a canoe on top of the car isn’t an option, I’m not completely feeble. I feel confident that I’d be able to move a reasonably lightweight trailer around and tip it up.
