Looking for a Greenland kayak with ocean cockpit

I have a friend looking for a used one of these Greenland fiberglass kayaks. He would like to find either a Zegul Greenland ocean cockpit or NDK Greenlander ocean cockpit.

How big is your friend? Where is s/he located?

There is a composite Greenland style kayak for a small paddler in my area. Pretty much a day paddle and/or rolling kayak at 17’ x19.5".

He is about 6’ tall but thin. He has a skin on frame already. Let me know the specs or post a link and I will forward them to him so he can make a decision. Thanks

Think he is too big, but sent you the link.

Castoff, what’s the budget?
Jacqueline is brings some GL type kayaks into the USA in March, but they are all new Rebel brand kayaks. Pricing from around $3700 US dollars and if you pay in full now you’d miss the 25% tariff (unless Trump and the Canadian government come to terms and Trump doesn’t impose it)
She has a customer from Georgia who is driving north to meat her along the eastern USA somewhere but where exactly I can’t say. However she is going to be making that drive with about 17 kayaks next month and some are GL types.
If that is within your budget let me know and I’ll put you in touch with her and maybe you can work out the details.
Happy paddling.

It’s not for me but thank you. He is looking for used because I suspect his budget is tight. I’ll let him know

There are two Tahes Greenlands in Tampa Florida, on Market Place. Both are owned by the same person. She is a regular with the Water Tribe EC. Both have been listed about six months. So price maybe negotiable.

Thanks, I passed the info to him.

I had a Betsie Bay Valkyrie - fiberglass layup with ocean cockpit - on sale for a couple of years. I just sold it for much, much less money than I paid. The boat was cool, but the ocean cockpit was tight and, frankly, scary. Not easy to wet exit if roll failed, and the boat had a hard chine that, for some reason, made it harder for me to roll than my Impex.

Also seems like there have been one or more Valley Anas Acuta boats on fb marketplace, New England area. Certainly a solid classic boat, and most or all of those would have ocean cockpit.

Thanks for the info. I will pass it on.

There are often GL kayaks for sale on the QajaqUSA forum. Lots of them are skin on frame home-builds which tend to be cheaper than commercially produced plastic and composites, even used ones. And a larger proportion of SOFs have ocean cockpits. There is strong emphasis on rolling in the QajaqUSA community so a lot of appropriate craft among their numbers.

The one obstacle for your friend in checking that resource is that he/she may not be able to respond to listings if not a QajaqUSA member. I know one can’t participate in the regular forums there without being a member (which I am, so I can’t test this) but maybe they allow “outsiders” into the classifieds.

Thanks, Willowleaf he has a SOF and has done several Greenland camps here in SC a number of years ago. He may be a member, but I’ll pass that on. I spent time on QajaqUSA years ago, but don’t think I joined. He would like a composite with an Ocean cockpit and Greenland style. I will pass the link on to him.
