Where are you?
Budget in Pounds = GB I’d assume
when you say playboat, are we talking White Water or something else.
so to begin with let me ask a few questions.
Price range?
Paddler Size (height/weight.)
paddling usage Lake/Lazy River/White Water/Bay/Ocean
Paddling type General use/Touring/Floating about/Fishing/Play boating WW/Etc…
How often would you expect to use.
Yes mate
Hi mate price range sround 150-200 pounds im around 5 foot 9 and im on both ocean and white water and i will be in the boat every week general perpose is playboating
Well my Playboat experience ends sometime in the 90’s So unless you want a Perception Dancer, Mirage, or Pirouette I’m woefully out of date as all my experience is in the 3m White water boats.
They’re good boats for running whitewater, and surf Play but definitely not fast.
Also the Dagger Kaos, which is more geared to ocean surfing I’ll sell you mine for 200 USD as in recent years I’m pushing it’s max capacity (I’m an overgrown Sasquatch now, used to be undersized.)
So I;ll let someone else who has more recent experience with Playboats.jump in here.
but at that price range I’d rule out New boats even the big box store ones come in a bit pricier than that.
Where are you in the UK? There are numerous local paddler clubs around the empire and getting in touch with one of them reasonably nearby might be a way to get some local feedback, even a chance to try some of them members’ own boats. I paddled the Rivers Rye and Derwent with a group from the Malton-Norton Canoe Club in Yorkshire, most of whose members are actually kayakers who had whitewater boats. They had their own dock and boat house and even had club “loaner” canoes and kayaks and I saw a wide range of craft in the racks there. I connected with them before I left the US through the UK based “Song of the Paddle” forum site.
