looking for cabin rental in maine

Hi, my husband and I are looking to rent a cabin directly on kayakable water in Maine, lake or ocean, from August 26 through Sept 2. Trying to stay under $1,000/wk



I found several web sites with listings but the availability calendars are often not updated, and it’s taking hours of research. Does anyone have, or know of, a nice cabin for rent that is private and quiet (not in a cabin resort and not right on the road)? We’re two adults and one very well behaved, mature dog.

coastal preferably
I need to be on Deer Isle the week afterwards, so somewhere in the midcoast region or acadia downeast region would be best. We need space for our dog to run around and swim, and kayak access to water on site. I did just find the Cyber Rentals site which seems to have more available than VRBO.
