For AK trips, I rented from an AK based firm: Surveyor’s Exchange. No complaints.
For trips outside of AK we rented from Globalcom Satellite Communications
http://www.globalcomsatphone.com. No complaints about them, either.

I rented Sat phones when I paddled around Iceland and Newfoundland – sorry I could not find the vendor I used. These days, I’d rather just take an Inreach to text loved ones, and a PLB. YMMV.
