LOON 15T (Not 160 T)

I’m looking for advice regarding a Loon 15T that I found for sale a couple hours away. Before driving that far, I’d like to know a little about the boat.

Im getting older and paddling my Loon 160T for an hour or two on the Gulf with wind/waves off my beam is finally taking its toll. I love this “barge” which I bought new over 20 years ago, but didn’t get the rudder. I believe one would do me wonders for those long passages.

So, while looking for a 160T with a rudder, I came across a 15T with a rudder. I never heard of this model and found nothing searching except an old REI link which clearly shows the boat. It resembles a 160T but with an aft hatch and somewhat different bow.

I wonder how it handles solo, and how it compares to my 160T.

I also wonder why there is virtually nothing out there about this boat; did it die a quick death or did it soon get a new name?

I’m afraid all this inquiry will get me is “I never heard of that kayak either”

Oh, the REI pictures agreed with the ad’s pictures; it IS a 15T

Don;t know the difference between the models (have only been in 1 2-person Loon that I can think of, and not sure of the model), but if the issue is winds and waves constantly trying to turn you, getting a boat with a rudder should help that a lot.
