I am looking for advice on quality kayak rental or tour options for Marco Island, Florida.
I will be at the Marco Island Marriott the first week of February and would like to get out on the water. I will not have a car (taxis possible) and am looking for a rental company/destination that will have decent quality touring or sea kayaks. Nearly everything I see online seems to be SOT rec boats or requires a rental car to get to another area.
I’ve been paddling 6 years and am proficient. My usual kayaks are Necky Manitous (13 & 14) and an old Aquaterra Chinook.
I don’t roll, but can self-rescue readily. If needed, I can take a dry suit, but I am hoping the Florida waters won’t require, albeit, I have yet to check water temperatures. I will take a waterproof GPS since the reports I have read describe maze-like channels where it would be quite easy to get lost.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Sea kayaks easily rented in Everglades City, where the market is more toward multiday tripping…
Why SOT? The water is warm… you dont even need a wetsuit. And the rental market is for mostly casual paddlers.

Find a real chart. GPS can be hard to read in glare of sun and it may give you a good micropicture. I use both GPS and waterproof chart. Been there.
