Mountain Laurel Designs DuoMid

Anyone have any experience with this? I’m interested in how well it holds up, sheds snow/water/wind, and how it lasts over time… It looks like a nice ultralight shelter, but maybe too lightweight fabric to be long lasting…

For those who have used it, were there any condensation issues? And how small does it pack up when compressed? According to the specs on their website, it is 1. 35 silnylon, but does NOT say if it is ripstop or not.

Most info is at
backpackinglight.com forums.

I haven’t had a ripstop fabric in a tent
since the 70s. Don’t know about silnylon, but ripstop is a non-issue for me.

Strong, waterproof fabric.
I have several tents and tarps in silnylon though not the MLD Duomid. They pack up quite small.

The design is really nice for nasty weather. I have a Golite Shangri-La 3 which is similar and it is a 4-season tarp.

My GoLite has a peak vent much like the duomid and it vents very well so condensation isn’t much of an issue but it depends a LOT on when and where you’re using it.
