Headed down to Nags Head tomorrow and looking for advice for the best places to paddle either on the sound or the ocean. Will be paddling a Tarpon 12 so not looking to paddle extremely long distances. Thanks.Kitty Hawk Woods Reservation
There is a nice fresh water river, that is a fun place to paddle.
There is a nice parking area and free put-in.
After you launch, head north (right) and you can paddle all the way to the sound.
You can also head south (left) and in a short distance will come out to a bay that is behind Jocky Ridge and the Wright Brothers momument.
Heading toward the sound be careful of cottonmouths. There are a lot of them.
