Hi All, Just a note to introduce everyone to a new waterfront park for kayakers, canoeists, nature lovers, campers, school groups, etc. The ten-acre parcel, home and 800' of water frontage was donated to us. Although it is not open to the public yet, we hope to invite visitors by late Spring, 2015. We just started a facebook page "Friends of Mathews Heritage Park". Take a look, add a "like" and a favorable comment, and join up as a "Friend of the Park". We will need lots of volunteers to get the park and house prepared for opening.
I was involved in similar, and somewhat taken aback when the landowner showed up with a VERY LARGE GUN as we paddled over a navigable stream, Loyalsock Creek thru the Splash Dam, an ages old swimming area held by a log crib dam used for log floats.
We were landowners. The gunman was an inheritee of the pseudo mansion on a hill with large lawn and mirrored globe on pedestal…across the dirt road.
The gun was not a prudent move. The ‘Sock was listed as a primo canoe creek in a primo State Canoeing Brochure on primo manila.
