arriving
we have the first delphin 155 arriving in 2 weeks. Brian Day along with Kelly Blades will be touring around the Midwest, Northeast and Midatlantic - trying the new boat out at all the hot spots. we’ll have lots arriving early July - and then we’ll be working on the smaller “150” along with the composite “airies” version. lots of updates on the FB page for P&H - as well as the website phseakayaks.com. Early July the delphins will be getting in to the Team P&H hands as well -

When can we expect the Aries?
I look forward to the reviews of the new Delphin. When can we expect the Aries, the promised fiberglass version? I was ready to purchase a Whiskey 16 for my surf boat but am holding out for the Aries.

Delphin
I can fill you in just a little about the Delphin and it’s composite cousin, the Aires.

About 18 months ago, Graham Mackereth, owner of Pyranha/P&H began asking team paddlers what they felt was missing from the P&H line-up. What’s interesting is how a very diverse group of paddlers from all over the world came back with such similar ideas: a more maneuverable boat that plays well in surf, rock gardens, etc. And thus the Delphin was born.

The boat will come in 150 (15’) and 155 (15’5"). Ample rocker, plenty of volume bow and stern to keep the boat on top of the wave (not purling into it!), and aggressive chines for carving turns, and flat mid-section hull for maneuvering on waves or crossing races. From what I understand it’s slightly rear weighted to improve tracking in the flat; forward lean should trim the boat in surf.

P&H’s expertise in sea kayak design and Pyranha’s whitewater know-how really came together on this boat. The Delphin will be outfitted similarly to the Pyranha Connect-30 outfitting system, and the cockpit size and feel (e.g., the deeper wells for knees) should be reminiscent of a whitewater boat.

The Delphin is in production right now and should be in the US for test paddling by July. The Aires will follow shortly after.

Here’s a link to some photos from sea trials:

Cetus and Delphin Lineage
While the form of the boat takes some cues from the Cetus (e.g., slight swede form), the hull shape and trim on this kayak are very different.

sounds good
Now, why couldn’t PH post that on their website?

What they have there sounds like corporate PR bs.

Would love to see a production
composite “surf boat”, glad they are thinking out of the box, but how about a surf kayak?

keep dreaming
Take a look at this:

I think that is more what you had in mind. Of course, might be a little difficult to sell this boat to a beginner - edges are likely to be grabby, don’t really see how one could add a f-g rudder to this thing.

I wish Spike would opensource the lines - I would love to build that in S&G.

how about a surf kayak?
