My husband and I just bought a 16’ Dagger Legend canoe today. We have been boating in a 36’ Carver aft cabin for several years and decided to sell the big boat and do the simple life! Well now we are not sure where the best places to canoe are. We are in the North Alabama area and would love to hear from paddling groups in this area to give us a few bits of advice. thank you.

Welcome
In my mind any decision that results in fewer internal combustion engines in ones life is a good decision. I can not help you with paddle sites in Alabama, but suggest you go the the home page and look at the paddling launch map. The associated app is a great resource for finding paddling sites.

Two tips
Buy a book called Paddling Alabama published by Falcon Guide. I got mine from Books A Million

Go to meetup.com and look for paddle groups in your area.

check this link
to the paddling.net “Go Paddling” on the menu bar above. It has trip reports for all over the state of Alabama. Congratulations on your new past time

North Alabama
What are you calling North Alabama? There is the Huntsville Canoe Club, http://www.huntsvillecanoeclub.org/

Then there is the Birmingham canoe Club, http://birminghamcanoeclub.org/ Both clubs can get you up to speed on paddling places and paddling friends.
