Nice night for a sail

The wind picked up so grabbed The Java and took advantage of a 10 pm session on the local lake https://youtu.be/0HE5gHhvZW8

Well it certainly looks like a beautiful evening in the neighborhood

Whee! He wants to keep an eye on you!

Do like all that daytime at 10 p.m. Paris sure has a lot of seat time…or stand time.

We love Paris

What is Paris boat? After hauling 3 hard bodies for a week, I’m getting interested.

Feathercraft Java, String. Inflatable solo sit on top with aluminum stiffening longerons but, like all FC’s, now extinct. Very cool craft and I almost bought a used one that turned up last winter. They turn up rarely.

I have it up for sale locally. It can be shipped. PM me if interested

The defunct Feathercraft catalog pages are still up on the web. 15’ 4" x 28", sets up in 10 to 15 minutes and only weighs 33 pounds.

The Java solo, Gemini tandem and the short-lived Aironaut were FC’s only true inflatables. With a 450 pound rating and optional second seat, the Java can be paddled with a human buddy (as well as a feisty Jack Russell.)

Only kayak somewhat similar that I know of that is still in production now near that length is the Pakboat Quest 150, which can be paddled as an open boat or closed deck, but it isn’t a full sponsoned hull like the Java, just has a row of smaller diameter sponsons along the sides and is more of a skin on frame (like the other non-inflatable Feathercrafts like the K-1, Kahuna, Wisper and Khatsalano were) . Quest 150 is 14’ 11" x 24" at 31 pounds. Takes about 30 minutes to set up. Around $1400 new.

Takes this dude half the video to get launched through the surf zone with his Java, but it gives you some good closeups of the boat and eventually a feel for how it does in tropical waters. Skip to 10:55 to avoid the struggles.
