Just purchased a 14’ canoe but have not paddled since boy scouts as a kid. I don’t want to get in over my head in whitewater so any sections on spots near Dahlonega, Dawsonville or Gainesville areas that would be good learning spots to perfect the skills?
need a wet suit.
noc has shuttles
get instruction and practice practice…eddy turns, ferry …running a drop…
water is cold. refreshing. local camping available.
Lots of options
Northern GA is a wonderful place for all skill levels of paddlers. The Etowah and Toccoa have easy stretches but also difficult ones as well. The upper Chattahoochee also has some beautiful easy stretches. Either get a paddle guidebook, check with a local outfitter, or better yet, read some trip reports right here on p.Net under the Go Paddling banner.
