Bought a used 160 in great shape. Took it
out today. 300 and 200 lbs on stern and bow. Oil caning. Is this our fault? Should we place weight in the middle? Will this hurt the boat over time? Thanks. Tim.

Poly boats are not real rigid, even Royalex will oil can some, it’s not a problem.

add some foam under the thwarts
to stiffen up the hull. Both of my Old towns oil can.
It’s a trade-off
you make for the low maintenance and durability of the material. Just paddle and enjoy it. It makes a minuscule difference in the efficiency of forward motion but unless you were racing I would ignore it and enjoy being out on the water. That flex may actually be a benefit when sliding over obstacles.
