Different uses
Matt surfs and likes to play in rough water. He also likes the reassurance of well defined stability points. So, the Explorer does better for him than an Aquanaut or Force boat.
For your uses, a Force boat or 'naut LV could be near perfect.
Or a Foster boat?

Photography?
As a photographer, I think Martin might be better off in a 'naut or Force boat as the Foster boats tend to require more attention.
