Paddlemore Seat

Does anyone have any experience with the “Paddlemore” seat?

We frequently have visitors at the lake of varying skill levels. It is seems like this would help people get from the knees, to sitting, to standing while learning how to ISUP.

Thoughts?

I’ve been paddling SUPs for 20 years and have not run across that type of seat before. I’m not sure it’s going to help someone get to the standing position though because unless you are comfortable doing a deep squat from that positions. I do think a seat helps newbies get used to the feel of a paddle board or they can be nice for family members that have no interest in standing. I got this one included with the last paddle board I purchased and my kids love it. (AirThrone SUP Seat)

I don’t think it’s a very effective way to teach people balance, control and foot movement. When stand up paddling you want to be able to move your feet to trim the board, put the board on edge to paddle with wind blowing from the side, sink the tail to do rapid turns, move to a surf stance for turning, and paddling over waves and boat wakes. Surf stance requires feet pointing at 90 degrees to the direction of travel and to be positioned over the center line of the board. This thing would interfere with actually learning how to stand up paddle. Locking your feet in one position, not only causes foot and leg cramps but makes you more rigid and less flexible to balance the board in choppy conditions.
