I’m going to travel from Knoxville, TN, to Harrisburg, PA, in a few weeks, and I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations of places to paddle en route. I’ll be on I-81 through Virginia for much of the trip and would be willing to divert a bit to hit the right spot.
I’m a newbie paddler with a touring kayak. Most of my experience has been flatwater (Lake Loudon, Fontana Lake, central Florida).
Also, if you have any suggestions in the Harrisburg area, I’d be interested in those …

The best source of paddling info in the Harrisburg area is Blue Mountain Outfitters .... www.bluemountainoutfitters.net
They are an excellent old school full service paddlesport shop that is offers free info as well as selling maps and running shuttle service.
They are near the Susquehanna river about 5 miles from Harrisburg. (route 15 North)
Did Antietam Creek when we drove
I-81. There is an outfitter on the creek. Rapids are easy enough for a touring kayak, but you might be more comfortable with an outfitter group.
