The photo you posted of Caddo Lake is really special to me. My wife and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary out there in a couple of weeks and I am hoping to get her to paddle a little.
How bad were the mosquitoes?
Thanks

That photo was on the trail that leads from the boat ramp on FR Camp Rd out to the main trails. We camp out on Goat Island a lot this time of year and there are seldom any mosquitos even there and just paddling around you will not encounter any. This is the best time of year to go.
Excellent, that’s what I was hoping to hear. My grandfather grew up there in oil City but I have not been in over 30 years. We camped on big sandy in 1979, and I imagine things have changed a bit since then.
Thanks for the extra details on the photo, I appreciate it.

Unless you have access via someone’s property, that ramp on FR Camp Rd, which is right off of 805 is a great place to put in. Follow those old license plates out to Boat RD C. Turn right goes to Carter’s Chute, Turn left and in a few hundred yards turn right on Boat Rd S, to go to Smiths Slough or follow C all the way around to Clinton’s Ditch. All three come out in Big Cypress Bayou upstream of the lake proper. Smiths to the Bayou and back in Carter’s is about 5 miles round trip.
Thank you kindly, details are great.
