Power boats go faster and hit waves. Just because hull was formed with chopper gun doesn’t mean it will collapse. I have dock boxes made with chopper gun in back yard they have been in the sun continuously for 33 years and glass is fine. Gelcoat is not bad either. Should be able to tell if canoe is strong or not.
We rolled this one over and beat on the hull. No worries mate.

I’ve had good luck getting the haze off old hulls with 3M 606 extra cut fine rubbing compound.
Make sure the inside of the hull doesn’t have any black spots, they are, often, the beginning of delamination in the chopper glass. They were only glued together with polyester resin, and it isn’t waterproof, just water resistant.
The inside was a pleasant surprise. It looked like a foot had never been in it.
