I second the suggestion for the Song of the Paddle forum. I posted on it in 2017 only two weeks before heading from the US to Yorkshire for a 10 day cottage stay with one of my folding kayaks. Within the first day I got a half dozen responses including an invitation to paddle with a boating club situated right in the town where I was going to be staying. Very active message boards and searchable by location and topic.
