I am looking for a canoe or kayak to solo on small (some shallow)creeks and small lakes. I am in my mid 50’s and weight 250#. I am thinking about a poke boat. Any good info on fishing these areas and with what kind of craft
Solo canoe or SOT kayak
Those are my recommendations. Poke boat may be good, but I’ve never used one so refrain from recommending them.
My preference is an SOT kayak, but many others prefer the solo canoe. If you’re mobility in your hips isn’t what is used to be, the solo canoe may be a better option. If your knees are shot, the SOT kayak may be better. If you’re just as strong as you were at 20, then you can’t go wrong.
