Pretty Pictures - Just Pretty Pictures

Medicine Lake last Sunday. There is a Sunset Beach on the eastern shore of even a mud puddle. I have pondered what I might look like paddling across that sky.
Now I have a little wall in time to look at.
A lovely lady did not find me so frightening looking that she offered to beam me the shot
she got as soon as I hit the beach. That is the first time and I know I’m in a lot of photos. Medicine Lake lives up to its name.

weather moving in over the Rockies…
the water level is low enough to make it hand-launched boats only, which is always nice, no motors roaring around…

Photos from paddling and sailing this weekend. Absolutely perfect weather here in central FL - sunny, low humidity, no storms.

It’s been raining here and cool. I managed to do some epoxy repairs on my Scamp yesterday. I will check on leaks today. Have my kayak on the roof of the car from our recent trip to Raliegh, NC. Hope to sail tomorrow, and perhaps some paddling too. I am jealous of the clear water on the FL coasts. Love the photos.

A few from Caladesi Island and Fort Desoto this weekend. I donated a lot of blood to the mosquitoes in the mangrove tunnel to get that pic!

Where would the Florida mosquito population be if not for the dedicated blood donors. Their babies thank you.

We take a LOT of pictures, maybe we kayak mostly to take pictures.

My dream shot is to take a picture from under water when the Zugspitze looks “just right”

With the paddler on the top of the split image and the underwater view. It’s my goal this July where we camp for a week. I’ll have to be first on the water.

My favorite ship came to St Pete! This is R/V Endeavor, the research ship for the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography, where I went to grad school. I did two trips on this ship, in 2006 and 2009. She is 184’ long and in her 47th season of seagoing oceanographic research, and will be retired sometime next year when the new ship that is being built is delivered. She’s currently tied up in the Port of St Pete getting ready for a couple of research cruises on the West Florida shelf. Of course this is right next to the marina where I live so I had to paddle over!
