looking for guide to take us, spouse and I, on a canoe / camping trip in Oregon for 3 to 4 days in August 2010.
If you are someone who can do that, or know someone you can refer us to, please be in touch
thank you

Don’t know about a guide, but rivers
in Oregon are near lowest levels in August. Some runs like the John Day, where guides might be available in late spring, are not feasible in August.

You might get 3 days and two nights on the lower Rogue, if your guide takes you on lots of side trips. Maybe the lower Umpqua is a possibility. It’s part pastoral, part wooded.

google
Google Alder Canoes in Portland…they may guide if not would know who does that work.

August is a great time to visit Oregon.
The mosquitoes are gone, low humidity and not much rain, if any. However, the fire season is then in full effect with the level being extreme.

Rafting down the lower Rogue is a good option. There are lots of outfitters so you shouldn’t have a problem arranging a trip.

In central Oregon there are many small lakes that are great for camping. http://www.paddlermagazine.com/issues/2004_3/article_245.shtml Hosmer and Sparks has remote campsites that are accessed by boat.
