A different twist on gun etiquette
Was at Gander Mountain last night and the salesman while fumbling with trigger locks kept turning the gun in every direction and i was pretty uncomfortable looking down the barrel pointed right at me more than a few times and kept moving left and right to be out of its direction! He told us incorrect info about a frame size, we brought to his attention a 357 was marked as a 22 - I didn’t like their prices/or their staff and their knowledge and I feel he as a salesperson needs some important training or a different counter to man. Last visit there.

Wow…that is absolutely inexcuseable.
I wouldn’t want to go back there either.

I advise that you make a complaint to the store manager about the careless gun handling you saw there. They generally take complaints very seriously and will make an attempt to give the associate the proper knowledge. If you choose to do nothing then nothing will change there.

Have made a call
But the store manager is away until Monday and the dept manager doesn’t want to deal with it! This is truly a lame store. So I will call on Monday.

1more step
You typically won’t find the store mgr’s around on a weekend. Do talk to him and see where it goes. If you are not satisfied at store level then you can go to the GMTN website and do a shopping survey where you can lay it all out.

as my motivation is for them to take gun training more seriously for their staff (especially the one i dealt with) - they are supposed to be to ones to show others the first steps to gun safety - namely checking to see if it is loaded first and foremost and to keep it pointed in a safe direction at "all times". He said it is federal law to use trigger locks but that is the first store i ever saw using them and to honest if their staff is well trained - no need to have them fudgit with them like he did in the first place - he could have used that time initially to check it wasnt loaded. Seems like they are creating a false sense of security. I never felt uncomfortable with the other gun stores i visited even though the guns had no locks - i could tell they were knowledgeable smart staff.
