Repair Advice for Stitch and Glue Kayak

I thought I would post an update on the repair and once again thank everyone for the great advice. I made the keel repairs using 2 inch fiberglass tape that I put down in two layers, staggering the tape so that I ended up with a double layer about 1 inch wide right at the keel, and then a single layer further up the hull. That seemed to work well. I feathered the edges using a 2 inch carbide scraper. The scraper turned out to be a very useful tool. Overall, the repair looks good, but I didn’t worry about getting it absolutely perfect.

Here are a couple of photos of the repair, and a third of the first voyage after the job was done. You can see from the scratches that I did not repaint the entire hull - maybe next year. Thanks again, everyone!

That is a nice-looking job and boat.
