I’ve been using Solomon Techamphibians for my last couple of years for river canoe trip guiding. What are people’s preferences and thoughts on the best river shoes out there at the moment?
I’ve been looking at the Merrel Capra Rapid, and the Merrell All Out Blaze Aero Sport. I’m not sure how well my feel would do in the neoprene Rapids with a full day in the canoe.
Have you looked at Astral?

They drain water very well, dry quickly, and have super grippy soles.
5.10 or Astral
Five.Ten and Astral make really great water shoes. I found that the Solomon Techamphibians do not hold up well and do not have a good grip on wet rocks.
Keens or NRS’s shoes = grip + protection
Might want to think of it as grip & protection..coming out onto rock, as wetzool mentioned. Either cold and/or dangerous sub-surface stuff or the Keens(open, more of sandal but good fit all-around.
Depends on what you choose to paddle...my picks may be on the ancient side.
$.01
shoes
No one should rely on Teva sandals with velcro closing now that there are so many good water shoes. Sand and algae get in the velcro making it useless right when you need shoes to protect your feet when lining or coming out of a boat.
Ok for injured ankle?

Would these be ok for somebody recovering from an ankle injury?
