I believe both Thule and Yakima do not want you to go through a car wash with the racks on the car. Not sure if it voids the warranty or not, but not recommended and not worth the risk IMO.

Shoot…I don’t go through car washes without a roof rack on.
Handwashing is the only way my vehicles get clean.
