YES. Congrats, Marshall!!!

Impressive marshall, 9 miles in less than 1h 20m, I don’t think I’ve even gone half as fast as that!

Thanks all! I definitely burnt off my Wheaties for that!

Very fun race to start off the Season. The three portages will definitely get your heart pumping in addition to the great paddling competition!

Always a fun field of participants to cheer on and be cheered on by!

I’ll see what my camera captured and put together a slide show. I’ll post a link to it later today.

(That Stellar Eagle is a fast ride)

See you on the water,
Marshall Seddon

That’s impressive. That is 7.5 and some change MPH. (If my math is correct.)

fastest I’ve ever done is 6.2 mph over almost 3 miles. but generally I’m at 5.8, to 6 mph.

Color me Impressed and congratulations Marshall!

Speed on a river is big time affected by current speed and wind, so not actual paddle speed? Someone calculated a SUP at 6 mph in that race.

Another race in the south on a lake (no river current) and wind speeds less than 5 mph, a 14’ SUP racer averaged 6 mph beating EPIC V8 pro’s (19 ft). Their single blade volume is lower than a racing kayak paddle, either euro or wing. The power generated in a stand-up position (as opposed to sitting) must be huge!

Depends on how they run the race.

Our races on the Susquehanna are set to be up against the current and back with it, so one direction negates the advantage of the other. In that race we had a guy in a SUP run 5.57 MPH on a Race SUP. over a 3 Mi course.

That day we had the wind directly with the river so again paddling you were into the wind and with it on the return.

The guy who ran the 10 miler ran it in 1.46.56, so slightly (imperceptibly) more than 6.8 mph in a Race SUP

I wouldn’t discount SUP’s that they can be slow. I made that mistake on my first outing and saw Race SUP’s Who knew they made a Racing SUP.

I found that they ran pretty much on par with the touring kayaks, or perhaps a little faster. but so far I’ve never seen anyone beat the surf skis - Except me in the 10 miler I beat a guy in a V10. WooT, mostly because it came down to training in that case. I could keep paddling contiguously at mile 8 and he couldn’t but by the 5 mile turn around when I made it he was already at mile 6 or 7. I dind’t pass him until Mile 8. It took me 2 hours 2 minutes and 34 seconds. the rest of the Surf Skis in that race all finished in between 1:17 and 1:27.
