Saco River Maine

Looking to plan a trip on the Saco, but not sure what stretch to run. Hoping to do some beach camping posiibly. Any area that has camping light bush or otherwise. Appreciate any input.

( thats the crossing on 302 just e of Fryeburg) there is a lot of sandbar camping all the way to Hiram. Alternatively launch at Hemlock Bridge for a 35 mile trip

There is sandbar camping above Walkers Bridge too ( launch in Fryeburg) but Fiddlehead runs most of the camping

all camping is beach. River is running low now. We need rain desperately.

Saco Camping
A couple of years ago I was planning a trip, but never went. Here’re my thoughts from then.

Swans Falls is a pay launch and has a nice campground.

Fiddlehead is big and has car access.

All the launches have a fee to support river cleanups.
