Savannah River Shuttle Help

This is a long shot and a big ask, but here goes.

A small group (2-4 paddlers) is planning a 160+ mile paddle on the Savannah River from Augusta, GA to Houlihan’s Landing in Port Wentworth. Setting the shuttle is complicated by the distance - as much as 250 miles - we live from the landing. A couple of shuttle variations are being considered: Uber to cars left in long term parking at the Savannah airport or a hotel within walking distance (<4 miles) of the landing with the promise of staying a night in exchange.

Leaving vehicles at a private residence is preferred. Are there any Savannah area paddlers out there willing and able to accommodate several cars for 4-5 days while we make our way down the river?

Good idea asking on here! Looking forward to the trip. It would be really nice to work out the shuttle. One of my nieces lived in Savanah for a few years but now is in Raleigh.

One option might be to contact whatever runs the boat ramp and ask them for options to park overnight. Most commercial marinas around me charge $5 for parking, so you could leave the most beaterish car there and use it to pick up the rest.

Here’s what a Google search turned up.

Houlihan’s Landing, located at Houlihan Park Boat Ramp on GA Highway 25 in Port Wentworth, offers paved parking and boat ramps for launching and picking up boats. The facility includes two double-lane concrete ramps, two boating access docks, and courtesy docks. There are also restrooms and life jackets available. It’s important to note that Houlihan’s Landing is on the southeast bank of the Savannah River, before the Houlihan Bridge.

Tide info can be found here for Houlihan Landing.

The Port Wentworth GA Marine Rescue Squad might be able to provide info on parking and vehicle safety. I just looked up their number and will give them a call after lunch. 1 912-966-0819.

Well, that was a disconnected number. So, I checked for an updated number 912 429-0507 and got voice mail is full.

@Kevburg - “most beaterish car” - I resemble that remark. 2011 Outback

The Port Wentworth Fire Department is less than 2 miles from the landing. Easy walk! There appears to be a large parking area behind the station. I will give them a call. Would happily throw $$$ in their fundraising boot.
