sea kayak rentals NJ shore/philly

I’m planning a trip to Philly and the S. Jersey shore and was wondering if anyone can recommend a source for sea kayak rentals, and also tours. I paddle the great lakes and looking for a decent sea kayak to get out on the bay and ocean with.

Some ideas…
www.jerseypaddler.com offers some different guided tours you can go on, and they will provide you equipment on those tours. However don’t just rent equipment, you can only use their equipment by taking a tour.

Also there are several kayak/canoe rental liveries in the Pine Barrens of NJ and the surrounding area. Most of them are the sort that they transport you to and from put in and take out with the boat.

www.njkayak.com in Barnegat specifically rents sea kayaks and offers tours as well: http://www.njkayak.com/rental_fees.htm.

Good luck and enjoy!

Harvey Cedars on LBI
I forget the exact name of the store, but there has been a kayak rental place in Harvey Cedars on LBI for about 20 years. Harvey Cedars marina maybe? I’ve been in and they’re nice.

Don’t expect anything on the shore to be cheap though.

Wildwood
I know theres a place on the bay side of wildwood.Just look on the tourist brochures.North Wildwood.I dont remember seeing anything on the coastal side.

Stone Harbor / N. Wildwood
Try Schylkilkl Outfitters located on Ocean Drive between Stone Harbor and North Wildwood. (GS Parkway exit to North Wildood, make a left half way to North Wildwood, then on the right.)

I haven’t used them in a few years, but they had a decent selection of kayaks.

They have a launch right into Herdsford Inlet which is one of the best spots to sea kayak in the Mid Altantic.

I hope to rent a kayak there this summer.
