Restoring a 14’ Necky Looksha sport-Plastic…currently no seat came with it and been looking around for the best fit, obviously the original version of the seat is no longer available and must consider a retrofit…been considering a ACSII from OLD Town but can’t seem to get any technical specs for the seats, Looking to get any information from anyone who has had to go through the same ordeal or has successfully installed a third party seat into a old Necky Looksha sport Kayak.
There is an article in California Kayaker Magazine on improving seats. Stlll available online in PDF format - issue # 4 at California Kayaker Magazine - South West's source for paddlesports information.
The stock seat from the Necky Lookshas was very uncomfortable - basically hard plastic kind of formed to a person’s butt shape. As the article say you can form your own seat out of fiberglass or closed cell foam if you are handy.
Or you could just buy a seat pan for another boat and make it fit. Get from a new model boat and it will be much more comfortable. If you get from an older boat, an older whitewater likely is more comfortable than older sea kayak.
Either way, the seat likely won’t come with an integrated seat back, so you would add a seat band like the IR Reggie to compelte the package. IR Forward Adjust Reggie Backband
