Looking for Event Volunteers I am new to Northeast Texas from Houston area, live outside Quitman, Texas, a paddler who is currently without a canoe/kayak, in the Texas Master Naturalist program and want to organize a litter pickup, volunteer event on the Sabine river from US 69 boat ramp to Mineola Nature Preserve trail. FM 1804 (Hoard Rd, boat ramp is a little long for right out of the gate.
I have organized volunteer events previously. Start small. I have picked up five bags of litter at the US 69, FM 1804, and FM 14 ramps. (FM 14 area is a disaster area, so I can’t imagine what the river looks like after the flood.
A one day event and date range would be September 11 - November 23 for event. It coincides with Keep Texas Beautiful “Fall Sweep” events and they would furnish some trash bags and supplies. Free stuff is good.
If you are a Negative Nancy I don’t need the nonsense as I have volunteered over 15,000 hours in my life. Looking for positive and knowledgeable people. I am hoping some Texas Master Naturalist will assist too.
Again, not looking for a big, massive, supercalifragilistic, event. Nothing wrong with starting small with volunteer events.
