Shark fin antennas on Toyotas

Is there enough clearence between the fin and a yak rack ?

Clearance
Usually the aft bar placement is forward of the fin. Thule towers are also tall enoug to provide clearance.

Depends also in your Toyota model and application.

Yes?
I don’t have the shark fin antenna on my 4-Runner, but just looking at my Yakima rack visually, I would say yes. I use the Jetstream aero crossbars with the Timberline towers. This set-up added several inches above my factory crossbars. I would imagine that care while actually loading would be the biggest factor, especially if you load your kayak from the rear.

yak cross bars don’t interfere

ARE BETTER THAN TOYOTA ANTENNAS ON SHARK
We use Thule Rail Grabbers on our factory rails on our Mazda CX-5, s pretty typical fin+rail arrangement, and everything clears just fine.

But I bent the whip antenna on our old Mazda 6 Sportwagon when I laid a boat in the middle of our two regularly racked kayaks a few years back. I’ll take the shark fin any day as it won’t break when wr load up to

PADDLE ON!
