I found a Navarro Loon 16 that’s only been used 2x’s. I know this is an excellent canoe, it ticks pretty much every box in what I’ve been researching about canoes. My issue is it will be my 1st canoe ever. The asking price is $1900. I’ve always wanted to get one but don’t know if I’ll be as dedicated to it as I would want to be. Would I be either crazy to buy and not use is as much as I should or would I be crazy to pass it up. There aren’t many discussions on them. Everything ive read about them states they are amazing canoes.
Look at the retail price, the asking price and the condition. Only you can decide whether you would get the value out of it. The question is whether it would become a flower planter under you care or a beloved water craft. If you buy it and don’t love it, at least sell it to someone who will.
Don’t suffer through analysis paralysis. If you’ve always wanted one and it will not put you in a financial bind, just buy it and enjoy it. If you find you don’t use it as much as you had wished, then sell it.
Some things are only available every so often. Don’t regret not buying it.
Life is too short.
That thing looks absolutely beautiful, and it sounds like you will appreciate and love it.
Some of my biggest regrets over my paddling career are the boats I didn’t buy. The ones I bought and didn’t love?..I either broke even selling them or they were worth the enjoyment and experience factors when I sold them at a loss.
I agree! I had a friend tell me I was crazy then I sent to pictures, I am 100% going to buy it. I was just having the pre buyer’s remorse! Appreciate your input. I’ve been reading a ton of this forums discussions on canoes so I decided to join y’all! Cheers! I’ll update once I get it out on the water!
I’m so excited to get her out on our maiden voyage together. She came with 2 life vests, 2 wenonah paddles (54&56) both perfect sizes for me and a dang trolling motor. I figured out the serial # which dates it to 2005. I cant believe I got a 20 year old canoe that’s practically brand new. The old timer told me it was his buddies canoe who passed away recently and that he was pretty sure he only took it out one time. Wow! Anyway, thanks to this forum, I gained knowledge and help figuring it out!
Congrats! I am glad you beat me to it. (Can’t hesitate in the pre-owned market when you see what you want at a price you are willing to pay.) Enjoy your time with your dream boat.
I traded an old saddle once for a Navarro. My brother has a Loon which he has paddled for years. The Navarro I got in trade had been stored outside some of the time. Careful inspection revealed some separation in the wood ribs It could be repaired with some epoxy. I sold it a long time ago for $500.
