Source of Paulownia/Kiri (Foot board)

-- Last Updated: May-12-08 11:46 AM EST --

Does any one know a good source of paulownia/kiri to custom made a light weight and strong foot board. I need about 1 by 2 feet by 3/8.

Balsa and mini-cell are light, but not strong enough for the purpose. I guess kiri, which I have used for R/C airplanes in my teens seems to have the greatest weight/strength ratio. Of course, it will be reinforced with carbon to make it work.

On the other hand, plywood is way too heavy for the purpose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Hi Iceman,
try Woodvendors.com, might be best to call them at 877 983-6367 and they can direct you to a local vendor in your area. Hope you are all well.

Thanks Hex!
Great link.

Still to find the wood looks to be a bit harder than I originally thought. It seems that it is used very seldom in the states, so to get a little piece as I need -it is even more difficult!

By the way, I saw you have been able to do several FCPA races -nice that you’re getting back on track!

You can order it here.

You can order it here from a group in South Carolina USA https://bioeconomysolutions.com/paulownia-lumber/

Hope this helps
