Spirit by Newfound Woodworks?

Does anyone have experience with the Spirit kayak by Newfound Woodworks?

http://www.newfound.com/spirit.htm

I came into possession of the forms and strong back for one. I was not planning to build that model and intend to just reuse the strong back and the backbone for the forms, because it looks a bit “boring” for my purposes (it appears to be designed for touring/straight line paddling more than for play/day trips/rough water paddling, which is where my interests are for a kayak).

However it seems to have nice clean lines and appears to be an efficient paddling design. So before I dismiss it, wanted to check if someone has impressions of it…

Thanks!

Haven’t paddled one…
Came across someone who had one and it appeared to paddle nicely and fairly fast. Nice looking boat. Modify the strong back and forms to give you a bit more rocker. Should give you a more playful hull.

Fast-ish it does look
No concave areas, fairly rounded bottom, no bulging…

It looks like it will paddle quick. It does not have much rocker, though not totally flat either. Does not have flattened hull sections, so, it will probably not be a downwind surfer - more of a get through it vs. play with it design…
