Stan (years ago of Great River Outfitters in Bloomfield Hills, MI) imported Valley and later NDK kayaks.
Stan had a major impact on my paddling days.
Bought a Nordkapp from him in Traverse City (symposium) in '87.
I ‘discovered’ Stan after finding and returning a wood paddle of his floating by the caves on Sand Island (Apostles).
Apparently, days earlier, one paddler in the group had an ‘incident’ near the caves (broke the kayak in 2, I think it was this (1/2) kayak that was used to signal where to turn into for the ‘Gales’ trip (Agawa Bay, near Wawa, CA).
Loved his stories at the symposiums.
