Suburban Paddle Excursion/Camping Video

With a will, you can find a way for an outdoor adventure. This adventure took place at an upriver, suburban section of the Charles River that ends in Boston Harbor. Love the old rec kayak with the missing hatch cover, hose clamped together 2 piece kayak paddle and Body Glove wake sking vest. We sometimes forget that It’s not the latest and best gear but what you do!

Love the ribeye steak and asparagus in iron pan over wood fire. Cheers!

Making me look forward to my own camping adventures come spring, 2025.

Suburban? Dinner looked really good!

Looks pretty remote, but if he were to go on shore, walk 5 minutes through the trees, he would likely end up in the large yard of someone’s multi million dollar home.

I rarely eat red meat when I am home. But, when camping (glamping as opposed to backpacking)… Nothing better than a steak, or a huge chop!

I hale from Boston (many years ago), but I never paddled the Charles, until September, 2024. I was visiting and one of my relatives took me out there, near Medford, I think. It looks a little wild, but suburbia is just beyond the trees. Still, it’s sort of wild. In hundreds of paddling trips I never saw a cayote at riverside, but one came down to the Charles as we paddled by!

Nice. Don’t know when you left, but the Charles has made a great comeback since the 90’s because of the MA Water Resources Authority (and tax dollars from state and localities) and advocacy groups concerned about the river - Our Story — Charles River Watershed Association
It is clean enough to boat and fish in year round, and swimmable for most of the entire length 90% of the time.

Pretty cool camping :+1:I often paddle the Charles up in Millis ,and always thought it would be great to camp up there. Are you stealth camping,or is that a legit site? Tx.

I seriously doubt that it was a legit site (given he is talking Sherborn). Looks like a cool stealth site on an island. He left clearner than he found the site. Kudos.

Millis section is nice. Gave a RTM Disco SOT and paddle to my sister-in-law who lives up that way.
