Surfing a bore tide

This was filmed August 6 2019 near Girdwood, Alaska. Turnagain Arm Bore Tide

we watched that tide come in several times.
What amazed me were the nuts who walked a half mile out on the dry bottom when the tide was out. In spite of the warnings there were several drownings every so often where people couldn’t make it back before the bore tide overtook them
We were on the rocks above, and a guy on a surf board bailed off it right where we were and swam into the rocks. I talked to him when he climbed up to where we were and asked him how far he had come.
He said at least a mile or more, and he was too tired to stay on the board any longer

The hydrofoil is neat.
