Nice Fish!

Yup …
Nice sardine there.

I think if I eve got a chance to hook a tarpon from my yak I’d probably have to change my clothes before I rode home.

Chrystal??
Did you catch that beast in your Pack? Looks like it would have been half as long as the canoe and out weighed it by 70 lbs. Cool beans!!

Response
Kayakangler,

My husband and I were fishing from his 16’ Chief canoe.

I did take the Pack out tarpon fishing once this year. A charter captain friend told me about a group of fish in the bay that were easily accessible. I jumped about a 70lb. fish that I had on for maybe 10 minutes.

The fish was hooked inside the mouth and sawed through the 80lb. bite tippet after about 5 jumps.

It’s amazing how close you can get to tarpon and other spooky fish in a canoe.

Last night, paddling back in the dark across the flat with a charter guest, I spooked numerous snook as I paddled over the top of them. Two pretty big ones hit the bottom of my canoe as they bugged out.

Tarpin Pics
I don’t know whether your a better fisherman or photographer, but I know it had to be fun.
